english booka padikirana paru ….. Erumaa*()#*#*#…

April 25, 2007 · 25 Comments

I am a decent reader in Tamil books space{comics, sirukathaikkal, vataravazakku,podhinam, etc etc} and totally untruthful to english books. My dad shouts the blog title quite often. He constantly missiled me to pick up his old BA english literature books. Heck it’s a nightmare – to get into something which you don’t like. Later his pressure plots made to do some random tossing and got my kind of book – “Adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain. Initial reads made me drowsy and dropped that part. Again my college days turned the unturned pages quite faster and finally reached Tom Sawyer. My imagination about tom-sawyer is like konjam parattai thalai, sharp eyes, oru rowdy look… Chumma to base line that here is my version of Tom. Sawyer.

Samuel Longhorne Clements aka Mark Twain

  • Florida born kid dwelled around Missouri, Hannibal, Virginia City, Nevada, California, Connecticut, New York.
  • Mark Twain created St.Petersburgh – simple dreamy imaginary town. Christians believe that St.Peter tends the gates of heaven and St.Peterburgh is very near to Heaven.

Rasipuram Krishnaswami Ayyar Narayanaswami aka R.K Narayanan

  • Chennai born kid moved around Bangalore, Delhi, United States, and England.
  • R.K created Malgudi village – simple, dreamy imaginary town. Malleswaram + Basavandgudi = Malgudi.

Malar pola manam vendum

April 18, 2007 · 31 Comments

:) So many thanks to shree to brought back my flower memories and special thanks to my grand-parents who inspired me a lot and i learnt few tips, tricks in cultivating simple plants in house balcony or free area from them. one such example is my andhi or nitya malli plant.
I planted this plant some time we freshly moved to our own house. She is around 15 years by now and we value as one of my core family member. When ever I get into my house I can sense her warm welcome, aroma towards me. We always have an unspoken communication conduit between us. Not be excited but I strongly feel I can communicate to the plants @least what I have planted. May be my Basic Instinct :)

Interestingly when ever we encounter any new plant my mom always end up in carrying a kutti plastic pack packed with some native soil and few saplings to it :) . Thanks a lot to her as well. I had already thanked my dad out here

Here are some of the flowers/plants which I planted and come across quite closely.

1. Nitya Malli : A versatile hard climber variety comes from jasmine family. This flower showers fragrance in the night and some places it’s being called as andhi malli also.

2. Idli Poo/Ixora/ Pitchi Poo: small red flower with red thalamus to it. It’s a bushy orchid variety plant often blossoms in a semi-circular bunch. we fondly address this as Idli poo due to its shape. Later Taxonomy Shree lighted me the name as Ixora. Auspicious flower primarily used in goddess andal malai. Srirangam andal malai is very famous for marriages :)

3. Gundu Malli: Bushy zoomed jasmine variety preferably grows in hot climate. fondly tagged with Madurai gundu malli. awesome flower by all attributes :)

4. Table Rose: Simple Cut and Paste multi colored variety. comes in a handy form. grows quite fast and looks awesome in the plant itself.

5.Vada Malli: It’s a contrast form of Malli( Jasmine ) variety. very hard bushy plant in violet color. heavily used in commercial malai because of the flowers larger life time.

6. Samandhi Poo: Thick yellowish flower some what resembles like Sun Flower. This plant grows very fast by spreading its pollens through air. Less aromatic flower and heavily used in commercial malai..

7. Sev Arali Poo: an orchid variety red color flower, generally be in front part of the house. you may find white version also. very auspicious flower for goddess akiladeswari.

8. Nandhiyavattai # Most popular white flower in TN. most of the old house front part will have this plant. less aromatic flower. It’s a statement that this flower gives pure mind.

7. Yerukkam Poo: Hard spherical violet shaped bushy plant often found in unmanned tracks and railway path ways. very very auspicious plant for lord ganesha. having this malai on ganesh chaturi will get you want.

8.Sangu poo: amazing tendril climber types having violet shaded sangu types flower. looks awesome in the plant esp. if the climber gets into your study table/window.

9. Thumbai poo# miniature version of Sangu Poo. Thumbai means white.. and very much loved flower for lord ganesha. offering Thumbai poo to ganesha clears all our thunbam ingrathu myth.

10. Sembaruthi poo: commonly addressed as Hibiscuss Rosasinus in biology world. largely found in red color and other colors are orange, violet, and white. Quite an adaptive plant grows very fast from a simple stem. highly experimental plant and you can create vivid hybrid plants out of it. once I got an ash colored flower. some of the spl features of this flower.

  • Petals of this flower used to prepare litmus papers( chemistry lab )
  • Grinding the leaves of this plant gives a good shampoo/conditioner
  • Sembaruthi poo Tea ( Violet in color ) is very good for heart and BP.

11. Paval Malli # Yet another jasmine family tree based flower. white flower of having red thalamus. This flower has a tube like thalamus and we need to join this flower rather than knoting for malai. very auspicious flower lord shiva.

12. Kankamabaram Poo# Orange colored bushy flower. less fragrance one used for commercial purpose.

13. December Poo# its yet another english shaded flower like May flower. this also kind of Kankamabaram family with less fragrance and used for commercial purpose

Other than that I like kathirikai ( Brinjal ) poo, melagai( chilli ) poo . Vazaikai poo, thenam poo( coconut tree ) and in simple all poos :) . Especially watching vazlai poo is a thrilling experience and thenam poo looks awesome. If you’re having coconut tree in your house and if it shreds out poo then u need to make pongal or sweet and pray for god is the myth. J

Avarampoo, Vappam poo I left out for some other blog post :)

Thanks a lot harish rajesh who lending me the photos

Note: Try mouse over the flower link. you may get an inline web.2.0 window of having a flower image. if not let me know plz. :)

Pakkoda Thina Varigala !!!

April 13, 2007 · 13 Comments

My warm feeling about pakkoda :) Eating hot pakkoda is good tugging to that I always have this butterfly moment :) . Yet an-other crazy memory rendered when I was in 2nd or 3rd standard.
That means long long ago, so long ago, once upon a time innu start pannalam.. :)

On an intermittent lull munching mood evening my dad got us a super-duper srirangam pakkoda (he he he every where the same :) ) from theirku chitrai veedhi aka south chithrai street. Four packs of assorted onion pakkoda, masal vadai and bonda. :) . On top of the cutting edge taste we have this freaking habit to read oily pakkoda packed paper. Believe me this is yet another Da-Vinci code to decipher or it may be your fortune cookie information.
U may get

  • oily cinema kisu kisu
  • junky cross word puzzles
  • 1 ½ page story with no head or tail – oru china happiness to read that
  • My favorite Super man, Spider stories from Rani comics or poointhalir etc..
  • any dman thing in the world for chewing..

But interestingly all four of us got a day wise auspicious kolam for a complete week. As per pakkoga paper oracle – “performing day wise kolam will get you good things ?”.

No wonder following our fundamental ethos we started implementing that on a day to day practice. Most of the kolams seems to be cake for my mom expect friday one. It’s a 7 or 9 triangle edged kolam specially for ammbal and a free–hand family of kolam rather than dotted or noodle version. ( he he pulli vatcha kolam illa sikku kolam illa Ingra dhaan appadi English sonnaen )

She tried couple of times in the book didn’t get it correctly. Over tensed and escalated the issue to my dad. His rescue operation failed miserably and We called our neighborhood meera akka / patti for help. After a while “Ciphered pakkoda kolam fever” cocoons the whole street. My self and my sister shuttling around all houses to get the results. I really nice to see all the husbands running behind this kolam :)

Oru simple Oily pakkoda paper created a good ripples around us. Finally my geometry box, scale cooked the friday pooja :) . After a while if i turn back most of the time i happen to see that so called tuff kolam in a more comfortable way :) . I just give a smiley look to that kolam and pay by.. :)

Definitely I may say kolam culture moving out of us with stickers and chalk pieces ?

April 8, 2007 · 22 Comments

Its just a serious recap of US-Of-A .

H1B fever is on for this season. Not to be surprised it started by April 1st and got over by the same day. So much of aspiration, so much of migration gonna a happen.
Including me when i prepare my H1B papers i don’t have enough knowledge to face the consulate. Later my parents, friends visa denial made to me to understand what is this all about. if you are a H1B holder please be on the mark – go to the following questions with hammering answers.

This are just a possible questions to prepare along ur profile information:) All the best.

  • Get a complete understanding of what h1b all about?
  • What is the purpose of your trip to the United States?
  • Why are you changing your Job?
  • Why do you want to work in the US?
  • Do you know what is the living cost in the U.S. specific to the place where you are going?
  • How will you survive for the first month?
  • Will you come back to India?
  • When will you return to india?
  • Why would you want to return to India?
  • After the conclusion of your visa, what will you do?
  • Why are you joining [New Company]?
  • How do you know this is a real company?
  • When did you receive your offer letter?
  • What will you be working on there? Is it an internal project?
  • Tell me what do you know about [New Company]?
  • How did you find out about this company?
  • How did you contact the [New Company]?
  • Can you give me the dates of your interview?

Code Kirukkan

April 1, 2007 · 20 Comments

Rexselin tagged me for weirdness. :)
Konjam tuff aana matteru appadi innu solli seen podala. But one thing which made to cook this post from rexselin’s wierdness is this

Indha bloga padikira paadhi peru softwarela thaan irupeenga!! Logic
eppadi paa yosipeenga? computer screena paathu? keyboarda paathu?
notepadla kirukki? illa pencila kadichu?

Interestingly when i started my career i just cannot understand how people creating their own logic. Its a nightmare of-course for me. If i get a logic less code ( can there be ????) i would be more happy to code. if not then conversation begins like this….

Ada evan solluratheya kayka mateinguran “
Dei romba too much aa behave pannura … value va kududa ?”
Or call the cubicle mate for enquirery
“Enna inga evan eppadi solluran ” ?

** Evan == My Code ( this is called logic of equality )

No wonder both are in different lines( me & my code who else ). To cool the environment I generally get into kirukfy mode( ada kirkukan illa pa ) what ever scribbling object i get near by.

It can be piece of paper, white board, coffee mug any damn thing across my accessible space. Most sentimental thing nehind this scribbling is if i get some vague picture that means i got a logic else blub dhaan. Once i got the logic my kalyani ( namma iPod peruinga vera spl ethum illa inga) will help me for further bulbs .

After all scribbling here is one such maha logic that i can proudly share.

if( 1 == 1 )
return false;

The same code can be logically derived like this.

/**
<code> Test </code> Logic Creation sample implementation.
sounds too technical for me. :) .
Thanks for the suggestion Just Jest.
@Author: Just Jest
@date: April – 01- 2007
*/

class Test {
public static void main(String[] args) {
try {
IsOne isOne = (IsOne)
Class.forName(“IsOneLogicImpl”).newInstance();
System.out.println(isOne.isValueOne(1));
}
catch (AyyoValueNotOneException ae) {
ae.printStackTrace();
}
catch (ClassNotFoundException cfe) {
}
catch (InstantiationException ie) {
}
catch (IllegalAccessException iae) {
} }
}
interface IsOne {
public boolean isValueOne(int value) throws AyyoValueNotOneException;
}

class AyyoValueNotOneException extends Exception {
public AyyoValueNotOneException() { }
public AyyoValueNotOneException(String errMsg) {
super(errMsg);
}

}

class IsOneLogicImpl implements IsOne {
public boolean isValueOne(int value) throws AyyoValueNotOneException {
if (!(value == (new Integer((int) Math.PI – (int) Math.E)).intValue())) {
throw new AyyoValueNotOneException();
}
return true;
}
}

** Though it sounds wierd but i just love this profession what so ever it may be. Nothing but a April 1st post :)
